The General

The movement to achieve women's voting rights is well documented.  Suffragettes like Alice Paul and Lucy Burns are very well highlighted in the history books.  The National American Womens Suffrage Association  (NAWSA) worked tirelessly organizing parades, raising money, picketing and protesting.   In 1920, the 19th amendment guaranteed a women's right to vote.

Here is a lesser known Angel.

Rosalie Gardiner Jones

Rosalie Gardiner Jones was a dedicated supporter of the cause. Her fight to gain the right to vote covered many years.  In 1913, she hiked 200 miles in 20 days to present a petition for suffrage.  Her courage in the face of hostility, eggs and tomatoes was amazing.  Despite her many obstacles she said "I am equal to man!"
